The Lincoln Navigator was one that received only minor upgrades in
previous years, as Ford’s first SUV with four-wheel drive. With the 2016
model, however, the brand aims to launch the car as a strong contender
in the luxury SUV segment, with the long-term goal of becoming a major
player in the luxury car market. The 2016 Lincoln Navigator, therefore,
comes with major changes, including:
Metal Design Elements
The
2016 model will still adopt the F150 design platform, on which it was
based, but will now use steel frames and military-grade aluminum in the
body. This allows a weight reduction of around 700 pounds for the car
while still retaining optimal strength. The changes that will be done on
the design platform itself will be reflected on the 2016 Navigator.
Hybrid Drivetrain?
Older
models were equipped with the V8 engine, but this is bound to be
replaced, with the objective of improving the fuel economy and
eco-friendliness of Lincoln vehicles. No confirmation yet on what engine
will be actually fitted into the 2016 Navigator, but released
information says the vehicle will be powered by a hybrid drivetrain. New Car SUV predicts that it will likely have the EcoBoost V6 Engine.
Release Date
The
2016 Lincoln Navigator will be fully revealed at an unspecified time in
2016, with sales starting in early 2017. Check out Lincoln dealers
serving the Slidell, LA area for more details on the new Navigator, as
the launch date approaches.
